Interior Designer: Haven Design and Construction
Houzz just announced Houzz the Best of Houzz 2025 Awards, which celebrates the most popular designs and home pros. With 65 million homeowners and design enthusiasts in its community, along with 3 million residential construction and design professionals, Houzz tends to accurately predict trends, so I’m always excited to see their announcements. Some of the many 2025 trends reflected in the Houzz awards include kitchen features that enhance entertainment, inviting home offices, powder rooms that pop, quiet places, and more.
Houzz gave me photos of some of the award-winning designs, along with commentary from a Houzz expert who explains the interior design trends. (Note: underneath each photo is the name of the Houzz Award winner.)
Quiet Places
Designer: KED Interiors
Many areas of a home are dedicated to busy tasks and routines. “That’s why it’s important to have a space that’s void of activity — a quiet place to relax, nap, read a book, or just sit silently in a moment of reflection,” says Houzz’s Mitchel Parker. “A cushy sofa or bench near a window works well, or opt for a shaded spot with comfy furniture outdoors to take in the sights, sounds and smells of nature.”
Kitchen Features That Enhance Entertaining
Designer: Gloribell Lebron (G. Lebron Interiors)
Many Houzz homeowners are searching for kitchens with features that enhance entertaining. “An extra-long island that has both counter seating and a stepped-down dining table with face-to-face seating is the perfect recipe, and we’re seeing both on Houzz and among winning Best of Houzz photos,” Parker says. Tte Houzz Kitchen Trends Report reveals what else is hot in kitchen designs.
Home Bars Or Beverage Stations
Interior Designer: Haven Design and Construction
Another popular iinterior design trend in 2025: beverage refrigerators and coffee bars that let guests (and kids) grab a drink without getting in the way of the cook working in the main part of the kitchen.
Powder Rooms That Pop
Designer/Builder: Frankel Design Build
If you want to wow guests, Parker recommends taking a bold design leap in the powder room. “It’ll create an intimate little moment of surprise that can be a style departure from the rest of the home,” he explains. “A dramatic wallpaper and vanity combination is a surefire approach.”
Inviting Home Offices
Designer:
Whether you work from home or just need a place to focus on taxes, bills or household schedules, Parker says a home office is a must-have for getting organized and staying on task. “Designers on Houzz recommend equipping these spaces with built-in storage, comfy furniture and stylish colors and decor to create an inviting atmosphere for tackling work,” he says.
Plenty of Living Room Seating
Designer: Lauren DeBello Interiors
If you’re going to entertain, make sure all of your guests have a place to sit. Parker says the key to any get together is a living room with a variety of seating options, ranging from sofas to chair to ottomans/stools. Smart entertaining solutions is a trend that also appeared in the Houzz Emerging Winter Trends Report.
Outdoor Entertaining Areas
Altera Landscape, Designer: AMS Landscape Design Inc.
Outdoor areas allow you to increase your entertaining options. “An outdoor setup with spaces for lounging, dining, cooking, and TV watching maximizes home entertaining.” Parker says.
Hardworking Mudroom Storage
Designer: Ellie Mroz Design
The right mudroom keeps everyone from tracking dirt, mud, snow, and sand into your home. “With proper storage – lockers, shelves, hooks, and cubicles – a mudroom can also help reduce clutter in yur home, as well,” Parker says.
Spacious Low-Curb Showers
ReVision Design/Remodeling
Create more versatility in the bathroom with a spacious low-curb shower. “Compared to stepping into a tub, It’s much easy to enter and exit,” Parker says. “A low-curb shower also creates a light and airy look, and helps keep water from getting onto the main floor of the bathroom,” he explains.
Wood Vanities
Builder: PRM Custom Builders, Architect: Brian Neeper
Bathrooms tend to include a lot of tlle, along with metal finishes. While beautiful, this combination can also leave bathrooms looking rather cold. Parker says a wood vanity can add warmth to the space, making it a popular interor design trend.
Relaxing Bedrooms
Designer: Elle Du Monde LLC
At the end of a busy day, Mitchell says homeowners want a relaxing bedroom that they can retreat into. A soothing color palette and plush, comfortable bedding help to create a relaxing look and feel.
